plates, belts and breasts

O.K. Two simple questions if I may.

1. Practically every photo I see of cobras there appears top be no front license plate. Have any of you been pulled over and ticketed for no front plate?

2. Now this question is a comletely different. I am contemplating restraints for my cobra project and I want it to be comfoirtable for my wife also. So, how do the woman out there deal with the multipoint restraints?:o

RedBarchetta 05-25-2006 09:38 AM

1. Never had a problem (in So Cal, that is...Texas may vary!).
2. Car is topless...she should be, too!

They sell pads that you can affix to shoulder harnesses. I bought some from Deist, but Simpson and others offer them. Just don't cinch them down so tight on the ladies and they will be okay.

It might help to know the size of your wife's breasts (pictures ?) to answer the question properly.

Lawler 05-25-2006 09:45 AM

 Roger that on the topless! Very good response. Texas has a law and ther are many cobras (every one I see) without front plates. A friend of mine got pulled over in his 300z with no front plate. It was in Dickinson, Texas. The Cop was Rude too! Thanks for the tip, my wife apreciates it.:D

O.K., here is a link. You will probably agree, that it is going to be a feat of engineering for me:rolleyes:

This subject has been thoroughly explored, as you can see, showing proper attire and positioning or the restraints. I see no problems Lawler. Tell your wife not to worry. :D

Ah, I see this model has deployed the optional silicone bag protection system.

Poolw 05-25-2006 12:55 PM

WOW, now that's a fine looking COBRA!!

Three Peaks 05-25-2006 01:34 PM

What Cobra?

Zoom This 05-25-2006 01:59 PM

LMAO!! Hey, by the way, never been pulled over for no front plate. I'd take time in jail before I drove my Cobra with a plate hangin' off the front.

gsharapa 05-25-2006 07:31 PM

If we all had the blond in our cars the police would never even get to the front plate!

Lawler 05-26-2006 08:21 PM

Now you see, I try to tell the younger engineer who for me when they write their manuals, Pictures! Everyone likes Pictures. That is a perfect example how one picture can acomplish what 6 - 12 pages of text could. Simple, affective, educational and fun to look at! :JEKYLHYDE

hey,littlecobra 05-26-2006 10:40 PM

well, it seems like ya'll got a little off track... I hope not literally! ;)

hmmm. yeah, no front plate on my car. I have 'antique' plates, I don't believe I received two.

Belts and breasts. I generally just use the lap belt when cruising around town. The harness is a hassle. If I do use the harness straps then tightening not too tight seems to be ok. Now on the track, different story. Full harness, with 'breast straps' pulled tight. Gives the 'flat look' a whole new meaning!! If your girl is well endowed, then I could see how the straps pulled tight would be uncomfortable. For long trips, higher speed highway driving, I would use the full harness, just maybe not quite so tight.
I have been told (don't know if it's factual) that if I get pulled over, I could actually get a ticket for not being properly seatbelted, if I don't have the shoulder straps on, just the lap belt. Haven't been pulled over for anything yet.
If you only install the harness on the driver side, and the lap belt on the passenger side, it wouldn't be a problem.
Good luck!

Ours has the 5 pt harness and I use the shoulder and lap belts. The "crotch" belt never gets hooked in for 2 reasons - 1) because I want to be able to scooch down if need be and 2) I use it as my Oh **** handle. Since I've yanked the little door handle thingy off at least 4 times, it's just safer to hang on to the belt.

And I do realize that scooching is an unrealistic game plan in the event I need to duck, and that grasping the belt/door handle will likely not keep my ass from flying out the car, but it makes me feel better. And it allows me to ride in the car with out covering my eyes.

Mrs 66 Snake 05-26-2006 10:56 PM

Hey, what's up with the censoring. I can't say Sh!t, but I can say Ass? Hmm.

HI Cobra 05-26-2006 11:12 PM

Looks like you did that time! I think I have the only Cobra in Hawaii
with a front license plate - I have a 1"x3" black mesh grill inside the nose
so I don't get a mongoose in the radiator and used a couple of ss rings in
the top of the plate to hang it on the inside of the grill. The radiator is set back far enough so that from 25 mph and up it swings back so you can't see it. So far so good with the cops.

hey,littlecobra 05-26-2006 11:13 PM

If you're holding onto the crotch belt/handle thingy because of the 'gentle, careful' way your hubby drives, then you oughta be able to scream: Oh Poop, there goes my Donkey"!!!!!

(it's just to keep the forum PG or PG 13 or whatever!!!!) :D

Mrs 66 Snake 05-26-2006 11:24 PM

I just totally got this image of Donkey from Shrek saying that!

hey,littlecobra 05-27-2006 07:20 AM

ah, Shrek. :D one of my favorite movies! hehehe. Shrek II is great!

ahh, donkey..... :D :D

now what were we talking about? breasts? belts? plates?

392cobra 05-27-2006 07:30 AM

Donkeys ?

I thought this thread was about breast restaint ( or lack of ) in a Cobra.
