Looking fir BB Ford Engine Builder

I am finally getting some other projects out of the way and am ready to send my motor off to get rebuilt. I am looking for a good engine shop that knows big block fords, especially a 460.

I heard of several in San Antonio and Houston, but I have heard good and bad stories about these shops.

Any help locating one is greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Kurt

Keith Craft

I'd second the Keith Craft recommendation. They've recently grown their shop and have much more capacity and capabilities. There are few that can turn a wrench better on a motor than those guys. Call Rob at 972-578-3550.

They are not in Texas but Are on of the top

Check with Walt or CHip at Evergreen Performance Systems.

Walt used to race with Carrol Shelby and they race thier GT350 in Vintage class.

These guys are top of the line.

Do not use Keith Craft of Plano, They did my BDR turnkey and built the 306. Use Keith Craft of Arkansas if you are stuck on KC. KC of plano jerry rigged the oil pick up screen, it sat 2" off the bottom of the pan, if I would not have caught it I would have burned up the fukkkkkkkkinnnnggg engine!!!!! The correct pick up screen was a whole 10.99 at Hi-lo, sits 1/4" off the bottom of the pan. They also forgot to drill the timing cover for the dipstick when they put the after market oil pan on. In fact that is how I caught the screw up on the oil pick up screen, when I removed the pan to get to do the timing cover. They also put the timing cover crank seal in backwards, used the wrong fitting on the oil pressure sending unit, I can go on and on. PM if you want more examples, i am upset now, hope you are happy LOL

Thanks for all the replies.

So far from I have the following recommendations:

Dave at The Cylinderhead Shop in Austin
Erik Koenig at HK Enterprises Houston (Was at HPE)
B&G Machine in Alvin
Keith Kraft in Arkansas
Chip at Evergreen Performance Systems (can't find their website)

Time to start making some calls.

I was in Keith Craft's Plano (Dallas area) shop this afternoon and based on their workload could hook you up in a reasonable amount of time. Not that they're twiddling their thumbs, but they have enough staff to finally keep up. They have a wicked 450rwhp SB 427 they could deliver this weekend. Call Rob to see what he'd take for your 460 as a swap for that SB as they have several Mustangs in house that could use your BB. 972-578-3550.
No, this is no paid endorsement, I've just seen my fair share of half-ass shops out there and when you see one of the good guys, you don't mess with it, you just try to tell your friends.
