Austin Road Trip

I'll be in Spicewood this weekend and I was wondering if some of you Austinites...Austonians...Austrians...folks from Austin, could tell me some cool, windy roads around that side of the lake?
Thanks for any help you can offer.

Miles,

Not from Austin, but grew up running the backroads of the hill country.

1431 between Marble Falls (281) and Lago Vista is not for the meek.

The Devil's Backbone is in that neighborhood also:

2252 and 3009 are way further south but OK.

austin cruise

old bee cave (off 71) is nice but a little gravelly...hamilton pool road (just north of lakeway) works...and 620 between lakeway and 2222 is nice buy lot'o'cops in lakeway...(there is a guy building motorcycles and cobras in lakeway, right below bonedaddy's..good burgers..but he is building streetbeast cobras..)

Miles,

I don't have a lot of experience driving in the Austin area, but I have driven 1431 to Marble Falls a few times and it is a blast! I highly recommend that route. Be prepared to do some passing on a twisty, rolling 2-lane road.

Spicewood, where is Spicewood?

Randy,
Are you the red cobra that lives off CR413, near the airstrip and the miniature donkey place? Maybe that one has red stripes.
I ended up driving CR413 - a wonderfully windy, hilly, 35 mph zone road that really doesn't come to life until you hit 70.
Got to drive on Hamilton Pool road (fun) and 620 was nice too.
Thanks for the suggestions!

Yeah, that's me without stripes.

I usually hit the streets on the weekends.

If you take the drive we did at our annual meeting it was awesome. 1431 is a nice piece and very curvy **) .

Sunday weather may be questionable though, try to get your driving in Saturday.

Have fun, Randy

PS>we will be home by the early evening on Saturday and may go to The Lakehouse Cafe for dinner and music listening, it is in Briarcliff. Would like to see your car of course....
