Any interest in a Poker Run??

just getting an 'interest' thread going here. A 'cruise/poker run'.
The Dallas group keeps talking about doing cruises, but i haven't seen but a couple actually put together. Anybody interested?? Saturday or a Sunday?

post thoughts and replies here!
I am thinking mid to late April. I'll organize it. :)
Kristen

Question's are:

Poker run: yes/no
Saturday or Sunday

Kristen,

I just got back from Dallas Monday night and all they were talking about on the Nightly News was the Cold front that is susposed to be there this Friday. Have things changed? I thought they were calling for freezing rain and possible snow on Sunday?

brrrr! I don't listen to the weather.... I'm 'always cold', so I bundle up all the time!!

It's feeling windy and cold out there right now, and I'm leaving tomorrow for a scrapbook retreat. We'll be cold all weekend. ugh. :(

Anyway, I'm thinking of the cruise in April. :) then i just have to deal with last minute cancellations with rain. :(

Kristen,

Count me in on a poker run. The date does not matter as long we have a couple of weeks notice.

Greg Haile 01-11-2007 12:33 PM

Sounds good to me!!! Swing through Florida and I'm in.:)

Kristen,
We're on the same wavelength. I was JUST thinking about this.
I would definitely be in. There's lots of variations, so established rules would be needed. It would be great to end at a restaurant for food and libations.

Count Me In

Hey, you guys should do a trial run and if it works out, set one up for the State meet (if it isn't already on the agenda)!

LuvDaBlues 01-11-2007 04:03 PM

 I'm there with ya!!!

jwoodard 01-11-2007 04:21 PM

I'll be there if I don't have a conflict at the track.

:D :D :D

I have casually suggested a poker run for the spring meet before, but i think it is too organized!!!

Getting two really nice cruises in is good enuff. :D
The spring meet is not too keen on being overly organized.

I would be happy to organize a poker run to Waxahachie. Joe, let's discuss this offline, in a couple of weeks. I'm going out of town for the weekend, first thing in the morning, so won't be available til next week. I'll send you a private message with my cell number, next week.
I would be happy to come to Waxahachie to set it up, and you could show me a couple of fun locations. Then, we would 'end up' at a good restaurant, of your chosing.

Not a 'first Saturday' meet. Definitely a different day.

Haven't heard much in the way of preference regarding a Saturday or Sunday.....??????

There are a couple of ways to do a poker run, and I'll give it some thought and post it later.

thanks for the quick interest!! I've wanted to do one for some time. I was supposed to do one last May, but it got cancelled. :(

stay tuned!!! :D

At one of the early previous TTC meets in Austin, we had a poker run as part of the activites. It was the Saturday event and if I remember correctly, we ended up at one the local members Ranch. Plenty of parking, keg beer and barbeque and some local club member talent providing the music. It was a great time and the poker run was fun.

:D :D :D

hey,littlecobra 01-11-2007 06:44 PM

before my time.... ;)

My first one was '04.
thanks for the info, Jim. :)

It's been mentioned again for the Spring Meet. Not on the agenda for this year I believe but definitely something to talk about for next year's Spring Meet.

I think having folks willing to help along the way is a need. I wouldn't want to have only Austin folks taking on that challenge. But one thing mentioned was that it would help keep people from getting lost. Or rather, very lost.

I’ll gamble on anything, even a $450.00 hard six, count me in. Once again, with my white Corvette Cobra; better yet I will volunteer for support duty. Maybe I can stack the deck, who has a fist full of hundreds.

hey,littlecobra 01-15-2007 09:12 AM

ok. i'll work on it!

Miles, I went out of town all weekend, will reply back via pm when i can!

thanks!
K

ps. i wasn't interested in it being at the spring meet this year.... it may be too difficult to do with 50-60 cars at any meet! Keeping it small with the DFW group. :)
it probably worked ok when the texas group was much smaller, the first couple of years. :)

i'll keep ya'll posted!

jdean 01-16-2007 03:13 PM

Maybe not for Spring meet, but like Kristen said, if we can get 10-20 cars lined up locally, it would be fun.

Does not have to be on one of the monthly Saturdays, but I think our chances of a good turnout are better if we have a months notice or so.
