New road coarse and facilities - DFW group

Gang,
I have inquired about "Racers Ranch", a new road coarse and facilities just east of Dallas (I-20 east of Terrell). They are holding an Open House Sat., Feb. 10th. Would anyone, (maybe those that live East side) like to drive down and take a look. One of the owners/developers said they could serve some lunch or refreshments.....Gym, Kristian, SSikes., Morris, JShell...?

hey,littlecobra 02-07-2007 03:37 PM

ya'll have fun, just in case i can't make it.

I might be able to make it, what time?

LuvDaBlues 02-07-2007 04:04 PM

Jim, This must be the facility you were asking about earlier.

I can't because I'll be chasing Jim Woodard and friends around Texas Motor Speedway. (Photo's forthcoming).

Have him set another time up and give us more notice.

BTW Bossman, it's "Seitz"

BossmanII 02-07-2007 04:40 PM

Sorry for the SP, Steve.

I'll check to se if we can do it at another time. This was short notice!!

This sounds like the country club they have up in Chicago west suburbs. Big club house, pool, bar etc but instead of golf it's road racing course. I see this one will also have home sites..........Heard another big road course going in north of Frisco up near Sanger.......

Madmiles442 02-07-2007 05:13 PM

Horses, gun club, a Porsche in every photo? I think I'm going to like this.
Flying in my Cobra past a Boxter while siting in Secretariat with my deer rifle...
Throw in some beer and tequila and brother, you've got yourself a weekend!
While this is the last "Open House", I'm sure they'll be lots more of opportunities to head out there as they try to sell memberships.
We need to keep an eye open for "open track days if you listen to our sales pitch" events.

Steve S,

Steve,

I will be running with Jim Woodard and friends also on Saturday, cant remember what you look like but try and look me up; big buy, gray beard, white Corvette. Lone Star still under construction, not track ready.

The track up north Gary is referring to is Eagles Canyon Raceway - http://www.eaglescanyon.com/
This is a 2.5 mile course that will be a real kick a$$ track. Check out the pictures on their WEB site. We've been out there several times during construction and actually drove the track when it was just gravel. Believe me, this is going to be a high speed fun track!

:D :D :D

Gary,

I will be driving my Superformance. Blue with white stripes and sporting new #11 meatballs. (Which I might need to remove due to insurance reasons. More on that later)

My daughter and myself will be there. This initially was a Christmas and 21st birthday gift for her, but I decided she wasn't going to have all the fun.

See you and possibly Jim W Saturday morning.

There is only one problem I see with these and anyone that wants to run on them.

The insurance industry is apparently wise to the non time thing and as such there has been alot running around other boards that they are now adding in the policies that they won't cover them if are at any of these road corses, auto crosses, driving schools nothing...let me see if I can find the post from Corvette Forum...

Basically its going to get to where it pay to play...

Matt

Fred,

We're participating in the "Into to road racing". VERY excited. Taking the whole family and spending the night at a swanky hotel tonight (Friday). Then the wife and younger daughter sleep in and wander over to TMS when they're ready watch us have fun. I've labeled it their Valentines present.

Killing 4 birds with one stone......not bad, eh???

Not bad at all.:)

It will wear you two out at the end of the day,BUT y'all will have big ole smiles that will last a long time.Like everytime you think back on it.

That is a valuable gift.It will make you a better driver on the track as well as the street.
I'm always amazed at the number of people that drive these cars and never get any instruction on how to drive at speed.
They told the class when I went through a 2 day course 4 years ago,"you won't know how little you know until you've been through the course".
Don Barnes was dead on !!

Let us hear the whole story when y'all finish.:)

If I could just talk my wife into moving out of California...not that I haven't tried.

There are actually three roads tracks and two drag strips in the works for the area. Back in Dec., Jeannie and I met the guys at Racers Ranch (Dan and Bill) and they have a concept that pretty far along . They drove us around the track that was carved in the dirt and showed the home sites that are part of the investment. It is a nice piece of property and I hope they get it completely off the ground.

Unlike the Country Club style of the Racers Ranch, Eagle is much more of hybrid between certified event and country club style (for the more serious racer). They have the track down, though I have not been out there.

The third it in Tioga and I hope to have more details on it next week (though it is not far along).
