More Austin Pics
I didn't take that many, but some of my favorites:
Great lineup while trying to get into Kit Car Magazine. "So, did I tell you I fabricated the transmission myself in the back yard?" http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/d.../IMG_23212.JPG A full parking lot gathering. Wow, that sure is a nice car in the foreground. Who's is that? http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/d...m/IMG_2322.JPG Rolling through the hills of western Austin towards El Arroyo. The rain held off, but the stream of Cobras continued! http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/d.../IMG_23261.JPG Rod and Tenise in their beautiful Backdraft hunting down Jim's 289. Check out the cyclists! We saw several groups getting their work done on these hilly roads. http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/d...m/IMG_2328.JPG Left sweeper full of Cobras. Who dare passes on the left... http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/d.../IMG_23291.JPG The group pulling into El Arroyo. Thanks to all who made this such an organized event. We had the whole restaurant closed for our Private Party. http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/d...m/IMG_2336.JPG OOoohhh! Have you seen the top half of my hood's #11 meatball? I wasn't really driving that fast (that's not what Stephanie says) and it just flew off! http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/d...m/IMG_2338.JPG "Our" parking lot at El Arroyo. What a site! Corvette and Saturn parking in the rear, please. http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/d...m/IMG_2339.JPG My father-in-law raced a '66 Shelby just like this in '66 in Production D around north Texas. It was also his daily driver. His roll bar was bolted down and not welded, but as long as you won't tell, I won't! http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/d...m/IMG_2333.JPG Now that the cars are parked, Miles can get back to what he does best, talking with the ladies!! "Yea, so I was going 150 down Mopac when the cops decided to give up...." http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/d...m/IMG_2331.JPG A great location for the group shot. As other's have said, a steeper angle would have helped a lot. This particular shot was right after Jay asked, "Would anyone like another beer?" http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/d...m/IMG_2347.JPG Who the hell is sitting on my car??!! Oh, well, that's okay I guess. I'm really enjoying the new game, "Find the Tatoo on the Hooter's Girl." Great fun if you haven't tried it. I remember later on this evening, James (JUS BIT) asking the cutie on the left, "Have I shown you my big Daytona?" http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/d...m/IMG_2352.JPG |
El Arroyo-spanish for "the ditch" I used to love that place. What a great ride-I miss Austin.
Do they stiull have the sign out front that they change with funny sayings every day? And the glassed in Poloroids inn the tables. I remember the little black birds there used to be sugar addicts and swoop in to steal the sugar packets all the time. Good pics-thanks for the memories Soon to be owner of BDR #479-Vintage motorsports -Sean |
