Not only do we have the bug but I got bit too.

Well not only do we have the Cobra bug but one bit me yesterday...got my first burn. It's not too bad, a nice red puffed up spot with a few blisters. To top it off was not my own Cobra either!...guess I don't make a very good passenger. LOL

Does the forum have a club for burned/bit Cobra folks? Bikers have the "Wet Butt Riders Association...we need a Cobra Burned and Bit Association. Membership requires a bite. What you think?

Mike,

I Agree, but what level? Red mark, Blister, 1st, 2nd or 3rd degree?

Larry

By the way, whose got you? Roundrock?

wtm442 06-03-2007 08:15 PM

I've only done a little one (no pain, no scar), but I DO have one of these in the trunk.

Yes got me on the ankle after checking the oil. Talking instead of watching what I was doing...

Looks like you are set up to do roadside surgery..

Yes not a bad idea though. The old radiator cap can also catch you out....

Ouch

Everyone knows that gets in my car, the first thing I say when I shut it down, "Be Careful, watch the pipes". My girlfriend got bit last weekend. 1st degree. Everyone should have a prescription for Silverdine cream. It works miracles on burns. So far she's #4 when getting out of my car. If you have side pipes with the covers, it just makes the burn look like a waffle. I met another cobra owner this weekend at the Niftee 50'ees cruise in with no side pipes, my girlfriend noticed it immediately and said, have you thought about trying those??? Be careful out there, these things bite.

Did you tell her "Hell no! it robs horsepower!" :p

Telling people to watch the hot side pipes is a lot like a wet paint sign or don't touch sign. They will touch them for sure. I used to have a piece of insulation that rolled up and stored along side the seat and you just unrolled it when the door was open and it covered the pipe the full width of the door. I had snaps on it and when not using it I could take it off and put it in the trunk. This I put in just after a guy left his right hand on the side pipe. Never could get the lines of the palm of his hand where you couldn't see them in the sun.

Well mine is a huge puffy red spot with blisters. Guess we all have to be broken in at some time. What really makes me mad is I put the leg way out knowing this could happen and when I twisted to push myself out, my ankle/leg dropped just enough...to touch.

you should be covering the burn with tons of aloe. you can get it at the drugstore in almost pure form, 99% or so.
keep it slathered on, and it will reduce the bubble, ease some pain, and help minimize the scar.
keep it in the car, I'd say!

Cheap seats!

I tell everyone to just stand up in the seat and step out. A few hundred for new seats is a small price to pay to keep friends & family out of the burn ward!

I can always get a new seat!

P.S. I also carry one of those Cobra Snake Bite burn kits in the trunk for those 'diehards'!;)
Oh, and I always wear long pants!:D

As Bill Clinton said to Juanita Broaddrick: "You better put some ice on that".

Mike

Are there any Cobra owners out there who haven't been snake bit? How about a club for them..... Me thinks it would be a small club indeed. ;)

How does one qualify for the "Wet Butt Riders Association" ?

OK, I just Googled the Wet Butt thing. Your seat is wet, you sit on it.

How about a club for Cobra owners that NEVER trailer their cars, no matter how far the destination, or $hitty the weather?

Naumoff 07-03-2007 02:57 AM

Wear Pants.

hey,littlecobra 07-03-2007 06:54 AM

I've not yet been bitten. But I'm sure that's no surprise to anybody- I don't actually 'work' on my car. :o

Only one bitten- my hubby- getting out. My girls jump way way out over the side. :)

I drive my car to many track events, etc., but awww, i do trailer to Austin, Tulsa, etc.

Steve R 07-03-2007 09:54 AM

Kristen,
No snake bite ever? I guess you have definitely NOT been diagnosed with A.D.D. :)
