I'm Bionic!!

Don't mess with me baby, I'm Bionic!
All titanium, all the time! No oiling required.

Based on the photo, I got screwed!

I've carefully inserted a gray box so we don't scare the kids.

hey,littlecobra 10-20-2007 06:19 PM

heck Miles I was looking for the crown jewels. darn, no such luck. :(
looks like your hip is doing great! :D
Your left hip sticks out further than your right hip.... hmmmm noticeable when you walk or are you doing ok?? ;)

hope you keep on truckin'!!

trularin 10-20-2007 06:33 PM

MM, hope your surgery was a success.

That Stainless Steel screw into you pelvic looks to be holding your butt together. :D :D :D

HI Cobra 10-20-2007 07:23 PM

Nice Xray shot. Now I know there are two of us here. I have had a
titanium, chrome, beryllium left knee for over two years now. No more
pain - I love it. The main draw back you will learn if you haven't already
is going through screening at airports - and as I walk through the checker
I always say "male assist please" as I'm going through - saves them the
hassle.

Heck, that hip joint scared me. My mother had both hip joints and elbow joint replaced.

Hope you feel better and get off the blocks before Christmas.

Now tell the truth ... instead of the gray box, would'nt one of those mini Post-It notes been big enough?

lineslinger 10-20-2007 08:32 PM

Good for you, I hope you run a 4 minute mile when the smoke clears... and..oh yeah.. have fun in the airport, I have the card displaying my metal parts and all the other attributes and the TSA lady still strip searches me.

blykins 10-21-2007 05:05 AM

"...and the TSA lady still strip searches me."

I bet you find yourself going to the airport a lot more than before, right Mark?

Bobcat 10-21-2007 04:36 PM

I don`t know what airports you go through , but I always get the male TSA guys . I have two hip replacements . One was a year ago this October and the other was 2 years ago ... both doing fine . I told the Doc do whatever he had to do to allow me to use the clutch on my 427 Galaxie ( also , no power brakes ) and upcoming ERA big block.
I was lucky as my Doctor says zero restrictions with his procedure ... and so far , I haven`t found anything I could do before that I can`t do now .... including running and weight training.
Lineslinger .... I know a man in Portland , Maine who runs 50 miles a week on his hip replacement ... anything is possible .
Madmiles 442 , good luck with your recovery and therapy !!

Miles,
I think I found the REAL reason for the operation:

Madmiles442 10-22-2007 03:31 PM

Hey, they don't itch anymore! Just think how much time you could save if YOU didn't have to scratch them anymore! EVER!
Not so silly now am I?

I asked the doc about a card for the airport and he said they'll wand you anyway, so just walk up there and say you've got a replaced hip and need an attendant. And to allow for a little extra time.

8 weeks ago tomorrow. Gonna try a little Cobra drive if it's not raining.

NO rain in the forecast for tomorrow !!

ENJOY Miles !!!

HI Cobra 10-22-2007 05:46 PM

Good luck on the drive tomorrow - you'll forget about your hip before you
hit 2nd gear. Don't bother with the card - they don't want to see it.
Add 5 minutes to your airport arrival check in time, say "male assistance
please" at the screener and hope you don't get a trainee (you'll need an
extra 5 minutes).

392cobra 10-23-2007 02:50 PM

Miles,
Did you leap over the door, crank it up and disappear sideways in a cloud of smoke down the street today ???? :):MECOOL:

Madmiles442 10-23-2007 03:34 PM

No, dangit. Still trying to wire up the alternator correctly. Here a fuse, there a fuse, everywhere a fusible link! Argh.
The hip feels good, though and put my sock and shoe on that foot today without shoe horn or mechanical aid! Little victories. 8 weeks ago today.

392cobra 10-23-2007 04:05 PM

If you need help with the clutch like John Ross did with the shifter, there is help available.:)

I bet if you went by Hooter's and pleaded for help with your snake, you just might get some help.

She would need to sit in your lap to operate the clutch. It's not the same as doing it yourself but you have to do what you have to do to drive a Cobra.:)

Madmiles442 10-24-2007 08:21 AM

Yea, those Hooters girls are a helpful bunch.
Now, I'm trying to remember what they were helping me out with here.... I'm sure it was something....

Miles, Glad you are on the mend!

Miles,
Congratulations on the surgery and what looks like a flawless recovery. It's nice to have you back with us, my friend.
