If any of yall have a tool for the AM fittings, thats the only thing I can think of ya'll

Madmiles442 03-15-2008 07:09 AM

I have a full set, I'll bring 'em.

FST FOX 03-15-2008 06:43 PM

Great thanks to everyone today, and I think the MVP of the day was SSSammy for thinking of the powdercoat causing all the trouble today. Engine is in lots of little things to do. I have to modify my motor mounts and then the exhaust should line up.

jshel1 03-15-2008 07:03 PM

Patrick,

We should have foreseen exhaust trouble with the deck height difference between your old block and the new block... about an inch is what the folks at KC described to me. I had no idea that the tolerances would be so tight.

Joe Wicked 03-16-2008 06:57 AM

Sorry I couldn't stay any longer, but I had promised my wife to spend a little time with her yesterday. And yes, SSSammy was the MVP.

jshel1 03-16-2008 04:52 PM

Howdy all.

I posted some video of Patrick's engine install and some bonus footage of John's GT40 progress.

Until next we meet...

FST FOX 03-16-2008 06:42 PM

Motor mounts have been modified, found out I need a new alt bracket and a new water pump pulley for the larger motor, everything else seems to be ready to be put back on, all bugs plan on being worked out by Friday

jshel1 03-16-2008 06:56 PM

Just in time for Austin

SSSammy 03-16-2008 07:02 PM

Great Video!

Thanks for putting that together, John! This is about the 5th engine drop or removal for this team in the last 6 months :D It's starting to look organized ..OMG  What have we created?? :JEKYLHYDE

Sam

Joe Wicked 03-17-2008 04:58 AM

Good video John. I see you got the degradation I started on film. :JEKYLHYDE

FST FOX 03-17-2008 07:31 AM

Made some great headway last night, one sidepipe is in and bolted down, coolant lines are ran, some electrical is done, just have to get a shorty oil filter, new alt bracket, new power steering pump pulley, and unsure how big of a deal it is but fuel lines off the carb are on the wrong side.

Madmiles442 03-17-2008 06:24 PM

Great video John!
Patrick, glad to hear you're making good progress.
Do you need help this weekend to be ready for Austin?
When you get up and running, the Texas Installation Team (you make the acronym) might have to turn our sites on the Nolandmobile to get it Austin-ready.

jdean 03-17-2008 06:33 PM

Ok Miles, when you gonna change those heads out on yours?
I vote that for the next project for T.I.T. ;-)

Watched John's video.....Having Sammy be the in charge of the bell housing makes total sense too!!

Madmiles442 03-17-2008 06:38 PM

Don't tell my wife, but I'm pricing the Motorsport Z heads....hear there good for 40 or so horse.....straight bolt in....half the price of the AFR's.....OH STOP IT!!

damdfw 03-17-2008 07:09 PM

As a proud founding member of T. I. T, just let me know when and where to be next.

jshel1 03-17-2008 08:07 PM

Miles,

I am not familiar with the motorsport z heads. I see them in the Ford Performance Parts Catalog, though. I was looking into the AFR 205s with Keith's custom CNC work.

What are you running now ?

Madmiles442 03-18-2008 05:24 AM

I have the old-style GT-40 head. They've made 2 rounds of improvements on that head and come out with the 'z' head since then. It's the difference between the 430 hp crate motor and the 475 hp version.

I can just imagine the next round of T-shirts..."For really Big Jobs...Get T.I.T."
