It was! IIRC, you'd had the car three weeks and we'd had ours just two. Boy what a group that was! I remember heading over to Champps afterwards and getting to watch the Derby there with like 15 or 20 people.

Default Sun or shade, didn't matter :)

We had the usual spot under the awning .. there were 321 entries, I think.

Class trophies in the "Shelby Cobra" class went to Larry Reyburn, John Ross, Don Wallace, and Richard Parker. Best Cobra went to a new Hurricane driven by a gentleman from Wilmer I do not know. Miles, Patrick, Nathan Parker, Gary Morris, Gary Sharapata, and I did not win I did win a nice raffle prize .. 176 piece tool set. They gave away 2 engines at the end.

For the Cobras, it broke down as 3 shade winners and 2 sun winners Also, David Tittle (shade) won his class with the Ford GT. Jay Nordstrom (sun) won a class trophy with his 68 Shelby GT500

John Dean attended with his lovely red ERA 427! Nice! Great to socialize with everyone, including the members who did not have cars ready. We all had fun and the weather was just a littel cool, but comfortable.

glad you all had fun... I was trying to make it late... but I was busy at my brothers new house blowing insulation and installing lighting in the attic and garage. He can now sun tan in the garage I am convinced I told him you can never have too much light

So did anyone get any pictures? I can post of the TXCC site if needed

Great pictures and report on the AER Car Show. I'll trade you my "Class Award" trophy for your door prize tool kit.

If I may be candid...you need to class up your Goodyear billboards in order to be considered for a major car show award...they look like you've rubbed too many curbs.

I know this is a curb appeal type show and you have one of the coolest Cobras on the road, but I think Kristen is correct in her observation...it's all about sun"shine"

You didn't mention in your report Steve's red flowery GAY shirt, Don Wallace's "you've picked a fine time to leave me Loose wheel" safety wire issue, Jay's really filthy trophy 100 point award winner '69 500, the glossy black racing tape holding Mile's front clip, the blond hottie signing posters in the Pirelli booth...aka "the rubber queen" and last but not least...Patrick's desire to sound off his 4,600 HP engine with side pipe noise that would maybe challenge John Ross's ground pounding ear blasting decibels.

You guys and gals in the TCC are the best. See you in a few days/weeks.

You can call me "The Gimp"

C'mon....Patrick's car is quiet compared to JR's sonic boomers.

U R right...I saw a lady at a gas station in Plano have a heart attack, wet her self, and I think have a sonic orgasm when JR ignited his monster under the island canopy.

JR looked back and said "Oh! I'm Sorry...ha, ha"

I still am suffering from strained throat and neck muscles...the ones that keep your head from snaping back from the force of sonic acceleration.

Thank you for the compliments, Larry The nice things my Cobra friends say about my car mean way more than the opinions of the hot rod show populace I am about as far into the car show mode as I'm going to get .. I will not be hand painting my billboards because I plan to completely expend them at Hallett and then Run N Gun .. if they last that long

I have to agree with Sam on this one. A car that looks like it was driven hard to get to the show has more appeal to me than a garage/trailer queen. I guess it is just the old desire for the dirty slut. Wish I could have made it guys, but my schedule just kept changing right up to the last minute, and I decided to just stay home and relax.

when i first got my car is was beautiful... pristine. almost elegant it was so lovely. Now??? well Pepe looks like he's been around awhile! few rock chips..... dirt..... wear...... age...... and yup, i painted those tires once and never again!
I take it as a great compliment when someone comments that it looks original!!
Sam's car will look vintage like his tires before too long, i betcha.

LOL, I just find cars that are driven more appealing. Cars are meant to be driven. Rock chips, worn tires all show signs of the cars are treated like they were meant to be. I guess that is why I never really was annoyed by clones/replicas. I would be scared to drive a $500K Shelby, but a $30K replica, I would have no problems driving all over the place and not worry about it. Now of course if I could afford the $500k Shelby, then my view on it would probably be different.

So it's possible to "desire the dirty slut" and have "race patina" ?
Damn, I'm SO in the right place!!!

Patrick,

Thanks for the ride. As Gary said about his new KC powerplant, "it pulls really strong."

Looking forward...
