Registering SPF in Texas

I have been researching Texas policy for registering a Superformance (or other) and have found no definative answer.

I could use the help of those w/ experience...

1) Will Texas title a Superformance MKIII, Shelby Cobra Daytona Coupe or GT40 as a 1965 (or 1966)?

2) Do you pay sales tax when...
- Purchased as Roller?
- Purchased locally VS out of state?
- Only requesting title and not plates?

It will be titled as a 2008 assembled vehicle and under remarks it will say 1965 Replica, thereby eliminating the emission part of inspection.

The first owner to title an assembled vehicle does not pay sales tax, only subsequent owners. I have a detailed list at work, cost about $105.00 for tax, title, license. Very easy if you have all your ducts in a row. I can send the email Monday.

ducks not ducts, now if you title a spf that has already been titled in another state than yes you pay sales tax.

Lived there 8 years and owned a grocery store on 1431.My son was born there too.

The law is unevenly applied here, because the authorities do not do enough of these cars to learn how. But I sought the correct path intentionally, no short cuts, so I could leave a trail for others :) These cars are legal in TX, so you do NOT have to seek a cooperative inspector, or fib about anything. You DO need all receipts for body, frame, engine, tranny if you built the car yourself. And if it was factory built, even as a chassis, you need the Manufacturer's Certificate of Origin (MCO).

Briefly, the steps in order are:
1. Obtain insurance, with the proof of insurance card.
2. Obtain a paper tag from the county tag office so you are legal to drive to the inspection. Cost $15.
3. Obtain the state safety inspection from the DPS Waiver Inspector (not an ordinary inspection station that 99.9% of the vehicles here use). There is a DPS Waiver Station in every county.
4. Take the "green sheet" resulting from the inspection to the county tag office, along with the state forms mentioned in the above thread, and all your receipts. Be extremely patient and polite, which I am sure you are;) And do not expect them to know what they are doing. They will fumble a bit, but you will get your TITLE and PLATES. Make sure they know you want both:)

I couldn't take another Colorado winter. Moved to "The Legends" (coincidence) in August 2007. What a Great area! Five lakes within 30 minutes of here: three BIG ones. I need to become a SPF dealer, Austin is a Great place, nice rolling hills, freshwater lakes, by the way there are no natural lakes in Texas they are all man made!!! I'll shoot the email Monday, by the way Vintage in Houston is the one that "taught" me.

The key is to have the MSO, green inspection sheet, insurance card all read the exact same thing which is 2008 Assembled vehicle, 1965 Replica and on the application for texas title you check the exempt box for tax and write "assembled by applicant"

Caddo Lake in northeast Texas is THE ONLY natural lake in the State.:)

Gosh, I am thankful for owning a Lone Star :) Brian (the owner) handles all the title information and the plates and title are sent to you in the mail :) The only thing I did was give him my insurance agents phone number and he did the rest including the state inspection :)

They way it should be!!!!!! Hey covettes and classisc in Houston has two SPF for $74,900 and he does for an additional $500, so he makes $395 for a trip to the courthouse.

I stopped in Kingland at the end of April while on a 3,200 mile motorcycle trip.
The roads are remarkable !
I hadn't been back there since 1997. Looked like the names had changed but that was about it.:)
The new golf course you live next to is certainly new though.

You know the new Fitness center,next door to Kingsland Pharmacy on 1431 ? That was my grocery store.
