Windshield Support

The windshield of the cobra will at times flex at speed. Its not bad, but certainly enough to get your attention. I am considering fabricating a support to tie into the center of the bottom of the windshied frame and onto the dash. Maybe the part that attaches to the dash could be a 'U' channel so it would hold the windshield frame but not screw into it.

Has anyone done this and have ideas?

Thanks

Cobra Windshield

The original Cobra and most decent quality chrome plated brass repro windshield frames have an angled hold down bracket that screws to the bottom of the windshield frame and is through bolted to the top of the cowl to help eliminate deflection.

I have often thought that the glass body "Grows" a minute amount as it gets hot (out in the sun on a hot day) and could push up on the bottom of the windshield frame and be responsible for some of the broken windshilds we report???

Bob Kalio of midstates told me that he should have never told people not to use the bracket he would have sold a lot more replacement windshields.
