Madmaxx, it is "street-friendly" spec engine....made 517hp/535tq on the dyno with a carb. Not sure what it will make with EFI. Electric water pump because I wanted to try it for a while to see if it helps while idling at the stoplight in these Texas summers. I forget from where I ordered the valve covers....I will look it up and let you know.

Never used one so I am not sure how the electric pump will work out, but I am hoping/guessing it will work as well as any electric fuel pump, which a lot of folks are comfortable with. One point about the electric pump is if you can carry a spare it only takes taking off one hose and 4 unobstructed bolts to change it out.
They claim 4,000 hours motor life, if so it will last me more miles than I can use. I think folks are putting them on street cars more and more nowadays. If anyone can speak from personal experience please chime in. Yes I know it is not keeping with the "original" theme, like EFI, but that is not the main goal of this car. |
Neat engine, it's going into a JBL? I always though the JBL is a really neat car. I'm sort of an originality type guy, but if I wasn't going that way, then I'd completely go against it and get a leading edge car like the JBL. There are so many Cobra's out there with body's that are just not even close to correct, if you're not going to have an accurate body, then go all out with a street legal race car like the JBL. Very cool engine / car combo, good luck. Wish you were local, I'd love to go for a ride when it's done. Enjoy!:3DSMILE:

I have been running a Meizire electric water pump for 3 1/2 years now. had my first problem when I installed a new engine, I broke the ground wire. Easy to notice as the temp climbed and I shut it down before it reached 210. I like them because you can circulate the water and run the electric fan at the track with the engine off for 5 minutes get ride of the water boiling after you have a hot track session...Mac

i have the electric water pump on my jbl and i like it. i had doubts at first, but being able to run the pump and fan independently after shutoff is nice. works real nice too if you want to give it a "burp". be careful with your efi stuff. i'm in the process of a rewire because of rfi which i didn't fully, or partially, understand til now. maybe you know this but from what i understand, keep your msd away from all your efi stuff, wire your msd leads directly to the battery, wire your efi power wires directly to the battery, away from all other power leads, keep your water pump power wires away from your distributor wires. mine is an accel and might be different from yours, and i have yet to finish so i don't know if i am correcting my problems but think it should. front cover is interesting, what brand? post some pics of your jbl, let's see that bad boy. also, how deep is your pan off the block? |

Ok, I got the valve covers and breather from an outfit called South Bay Global. They have some VERY cool parts for us Cobra folks whether Windsor, FE or whatever on ebay too. Example...check these out...

Yeah one of the breathers is just a place holder. It will for sure have a PVC in it. I do hope the oil filter will fit to save the trouble of installing a remote one. John |

I measured my oil pan depth. From the bottom of the engine at the oil pan rail to the bottom of the oil pan it is 7.5" If you have a chance, please measure yours too so I can see if I will be in the ballpark for ground clearance.....Thanks!! |

I was just thinking you may have the wrong pan. I will measure tomorrow. I have only a few inches clearance and was actually thinking I should get a mount that raises it up a bit. The car was designed with a dry sump and it is really low |

Thanks for the info.....looks like I am only one inch lower than dry sump. Sometimes an inch can make a big difference when talking road clearance. It will be a couple of weeks before I get the frame from Larry Goins. I will set the engine in then to see what the pan clearance looks like. |
