SunDude

The first time I started the car during the build I went into the house and warned my wife! I hit the starter and was listening to the most incredible sound when my wife came flying out the garage door yelling "shut it off" I did and then I tried to explain as calmly as I could that I would need to run it to tune it. I apologized if it was to loud and was bothering her. She looked at me kind of weird (but I am used to that) and said "Honey, the noise is bearable but the problem is it is shaking the china in the china cabinet" Had a good laugh on that and did all future tuning in the daytime in the driveway.

This is a great thread.

I too live in the city and I have a lot of retired folks living around me. That being said they are the best neighbors a family can have. My wife complains more then my neighbors (and she complains very little).

I find myself taking it very, very easy when I leave the block because they never complain.

Am I a good neighbor?

My neighbors love me. My pistachios and almonds are my closest neighbors and they extend for 3/4 mile each way.:LOL: My wife loves the sound but it does rattle the dishes and scare the cat. After firing it up I roll out of the garage and continue with the warmup. Since I received it early July, I don't know how the fall and winter starts will be. %/ 209

I live in the city. I have now met all of my neighbors because of the car (we moved here pretty recently, but had only met a few). I thought I was going to get an earful about the noise, but most just wanted to see the car. The first neighbor actually followed my car to find out who had it and insisted that "I was the man" and who cares what anyone else in the neighborhood thinks!

I'm trying to be a good neighbour in another way.

When I brought the Cobra home for the first time this July, it brought the neighbours out like moths to a flame, which was cool. The guy across the street from me told me that he dreams of buying a Corvette and asked me to "sweet talk" his wife into it whenever I can. Which I do.

So far there's no 'Vette in the driveway over there, but we're trying.

My threshold is 8am.
If before, I start it and idle slowly down the street to a bridge over a creek nearby and let it warm up there.
If after, it warms up in the driveway. They're burning daylight and need to get up anyway.

I used to worry about the neighbors until I saw this! LOL

They will be able to stop that with a law quickly - "the bus driver said he
couldn't hear a siren because of it" should make it easy. Wonder if they
check the decibel range on those? The installer will double his money when
he starts removing them - what a deal!

Personally, the ol' "exhaust whistle prank" is a favorite of mine. They work great on sidepipes as well. http://www.prankplace.com/fun_exhaust.htm
