TWM Air Filter mount for stacks

found that roush has K&N's make perfect fit filters to mount on each stack.

Hood clearance can be an issue. You don't want anything too tall. But if the filter is too short, the top of the air horn is very close to the top of the air cleaner; and that restricts flow.

The "Tea Strainer" air cleaners will keep out the big bugs and rocks, and that's about it. I got the bright idea of cutting up a K&N filter and replacing the foam in the tea strainer with gauze elements. Bad idea. The engine ate two of them.

On the street I use these oval air cleaners. The stacks are removed, and the base bolts on to the top of the valves, using the existing holes. They do cost some power over the stacks. But that power loss is at the top end.

I also saw this on a car a year or two ago. I think it cam from TWM, but I didn't get a chance to talk with the owner about it.

Amazedat so few FI's

I must say I'm amazed that more folks don't convert to FI. I love the fact that I can start the engine and it idles doesn't matter what the out side temp is it is just very smooth. Except for the engine being wrapped with cobra skin, the engine sounds like a sleeper at idle. Stand-by when the right pedal goes down :)

Update on the airfilters for the stacks. I called Roush and they have sell 8 independent filters from K&N for $260. They apparently slip over the top of the stacks. I'll upload pic when I get them on. It should look like this

Got the air filters in and sure enough they work PERFECT. The filters are one piece that has a ring that attaches to the top lip of the stacks. The part number on the K&N bag is KSP2988E. I am happy I went this route and would suggest it to anyone that is in the same boat as me. They look just like the picture above and this
