Keep in mind that your tires will probably age out before they wear out.
My car was on the road in July 2007. I recently decoded the manufacture date of my tires, and the oldest tire was made in October 2006. In October of this year, the tires will be 6 years old. No wear at all, but I've got to start thinking about replacing them later this year.
