Which Avons for my cobra?

I am looking into new tires at the moment and contemplating the Avons but i have to import them from UK to Dubai on top of the cost of the tires as they are not available here and i want to ensure they are the correct choice before i take the plunge. I have the Firehawks on at the moment and they are hard as rock and old also.
They are 255/60 R 15 on the front and 275/60R15 on the rear at the moment.

Avons have 225/65R15, 245/60R15 Or 245/60R15, 275/55R15 as the options which ones does everyone thinks the better sizes to opt for? ( I think option 2)
I am using the car on the road 90% and 10% track and its a 427 Superformance MKIII.

Hi Lardyfella,
The best and closest to original sizes for the Avon cr66 zz's are 245/60x15 fronts and 295/50x15 rears

Thanks mark.
These sizes are to fit on the orginal hallibrand knock off that are 8J on the front and 10J on the rear right?

No prbloms hitting the wheel arshes with the extra width?

Avons

Lardyfella,

I run 245/295's on my Daytona Coupe, great looking tires and

the BEST 15" available. I run 8/10" rims.

Hi Lardyfella,

I run 245 front and 295 rear on my Spf without any problems. Rims are 8/10"
Not too soft but sticky. Best choice!:D

Guys,

Thanks alot for the advise as i am having to buy these tires in England and ship them to Dubai in the middle east! They are not available here so i have to make sure they are the correct ones.
Just one more thing also is did the slight change in diameters effect the speedo reading much?

Thanks again!! :)

Never look at it........:D:D:D

My car is old (1988) so I don't think it would have mattered.

Lardyfella...speedometers are a highly overrated concept.

If you can convince the judge of that then you're hired!!!

Officer: "Do you have any idea how fast you were going?"

Me: "According to my speedometer, somewhere between 20 and 80."

I got pulled by the traffic police many years ago for speeding. I wound down my window and the officer lent in and said "Having trouble getting airborne are we Wing Commander?"

I thought that was a brilliant line.

I attended an AC Owners club meet last summer and spoke to a ot of guys with IVs, most had avons fitted. the consensus seemed to be that 245s at the front could make the steering pretty heavy, so 225 and 275 represents a good combination for nice road manners, albeit not entirely authentic.

Kevin -
I think you are spot on about the front tire sizes. I put 225s on 1061 my first set of Avons, as the 245s were not in stock at the time. The following 2 sets have been 245s. (295 rears on all 3 sets.) Parking and slow speed manners are better with the 225s. High speed handling, cornering and general track performance is better with the 245s. Depends on what kind of driving the OP will be doing as to which would be optimal, though either 225 or 245 are better than anything else he could mount in a street legal 15" radial.
