If they really do need a 100 orders or thereabouts to get going, then it could be a very long time before they're produced. Bummer.

Ned- kind of an old article, but I believe this is the basis for what Halibrand is now:

Halibrand files Chapter 7 bankruptcy, CEO opens similar company - Wichita Business Journal:

The newspaper article was prior to the SEMA show, so I guess anything could have happened since. But it still puzzles me why some company in the Far East was claiming they owned the Halibrand name. One would think a venue as large as the Las Vegas SEMA show would, in effect, be a large magnifying glass, under whose gaze no one would fraudulently claim rights to something they did not own, and the Halibrand sign was huge. Assuming the reconstituted Halibrand is still in Kansas, what was the other company up to?

I have a set of original Magnesium Halibrand Wheels on my Cobra that need attention. The two back wheels have small pockets in them and the solution appears to be to have someone spin them, taking off a small amount of magnesium to make them smooth again. I've found someone who is willing to do it.

My question - the centers are painted black and have been for years. At this point, would it be wise to have the paint removed and the entire wheel polished or re-paint the center?

Considering Mags

If you opt for mags and don't maintain them, this is how they will look over time:

No news. I continue to inquire and finally got a reply back this morning.

"No production date yet. I am keeping your name on my computer and will contact you when I know something. Thanks, Karen"

I am trying to match the look of CSX3034, they look great to me! :D
1) Scotchbrite wheels.
2) Paint centers gold to match the original chromate solution used as a sealant for mag in the 60's.
3) NEVER CLEAN THEM...... They replicate a 40 year old wheel with aluminum safety.

Yes, I could do that (really I couldn't-no talent). However, then I couldn't say that they were REAL magnesium wheels.

Actually, I'm looking for that dark ugly green effect that the wheels after years of exposure and no maintenance. Not the gold so much, although it is a very nice look.

Can anyone recommend a paint color that would replicate the dark ugly green effect?
