CVAR @ Hallett
Hey Clois, Matt, & All:
Bring your Cobra's out Sat. and watch Seitz and Reyburn tear up the track. We can always use pit support and encouragement. Hope you can make it out... VINTAGE AUTO RACING Vintage auto racing comes to Hallett Motor Racing Circuit, about 40 miles West of Tulsa, on April 17th and 18th, with practice on Friday 16th. There will be races for Corvettes, Trans-Am sedans, Formula V and Formula Ford, plus European sports cars like Porsche, MG, Jaguar, Triumph, Alfa Romeo and Fiat. Hallett Motor Racing Circuit is a road racing track that simulates the bends and curves of country roads, as opposed to the banked ovals familiar to NASCAR fans. Spectators are welcome and are encouraged to bring classic cars. People driving vintage or classic cars (pre-1973) will get in for 1⁄2 price. Regular admission is $10. For more information about Hallett see www.hallettracing.net. For more information about CVAR see www.corinthianvintagerace.com |

Hey to all:
Rain and more rain. Oklahoma is really a beautiful state with all of it's varied land scape, however, your weather really sucks. At Mid-America last year it was 103 in the shade and now at Hallett it's drizzle, rain, downpour, mist and wet track all the time. All in all we are haveing some good racing learning experiences in the rain. Both Steve and I finished good today after we made some adjustments to our cars. Since you didn't show all of Jackie's cookies were gobbled up by the Groups 1, 3, and 6 racers. If it's nice tomorrow, come on out and join in the festivities.:cool::D |
Good to hear it going well hope it drys for you tomarrow have fun be safe!
|
Dallas was overcast and threatening with upper 60s all day today; it made for great weather to have the car up in the air and be in the garage. The bottom fell out this evening and looks to be the same for all day tomorrow.
Sorry to hear the weather didn't afford wide open exhibition. It just means you guys are going to have to go back again soon. Hoping for good weather next weekend. Be safe tomorrow and on the way home. |
Larry:
Sorry to hear about all the rain at Hallet for CVAR this year. I'm was in the Ozarks, or I would have gone out to watch. I went to watch it last year and there was 6 inches of snow that wiped out Friday and Saturday. A few cars (maybe 30) stayed and were able to get on the track on that Sunday. Here are my notes from last year: http://clubcobra.com/forums/showthread.php?t=95906 Oklahoma weather in the Spring can be "variable". (Another understatement, from a friend of mine in Calgary: Canadian winters can be "brisk".) |
Rain soaked weekend
Rain, rain and more rain. We only had one session w/o water on the track, and that was Friday late morning during test and tune. That was right before the bottom fell out, then continuous until I left at 1:00 PM today, Sunday. Maybe 1/3 of the racers left because of conditions. Most of us parked at the bottom of the hill needed "assistance" out of the mud.
I kept all four wheels on all weekend long (but horrible times) until my luck ran out the last race and hydroplaned the car into a wall at "The B!tch". Guess who needs body work.... Larry did well, at least up until I left. But he did get a nifty little spin in the "Bus Stop" during one session early in the weekend. Next race, Eagles Canyon Raceway May 14th - 16th. |
Have you ever driven a convertible through a car wash with the top down? Have you ever tried to drive at 60 to 70 mph and closed your eyes for 30 seconds? Have you ever done a snap spin and starred down the driver of the car barring down on you?
If so, then you know how it was at Hallett this past weekend. What an experience! I finished all of the races I started and ended up fourth in every one. Frightening yes! We'll be back in October and we'll let you know the dates. |
