Trans shifting ?
I currently have a T-5 with PRO 5.0 shifter. I can shift as fast as I want without an issue. A friend who was in the car with me once, said his cobra with a TKO3550 has never been able to shift like that. I have heard that the 3550 an 600 were notchy. Is this true? Would a good aftermarket shifter help these trannies?

The TKO's don't shift like the T5's. The difference is the size of the gears in the TKO's. The gears are much bigger (to handle 600 lb-ft of torque vs 300 in the T5) in the TKO.
You can do some things to improve this. The first thing is a good aftermarket shifter. That will help you hit the right gear when you're shifting fast. There are also some things that we can do internally to help the trans shift easier, quicker, and at a higher rpm. |
