Best Trans. Fork ? FE (Hyd. bearing) Quick Time bell.
I just got a very nice SFI rated "Quick Time" bellhousing. Who makes the best fork and adjuster ?
Mines old & bent a little and want to replace it. I have a hydraulic throw out bearing on a FE. http://www.quicktimeinc.com/products.html http://i39.tinypic.com/2vbpqc2.jpg |
We make the complete set up with a billet fork. $400.
What kind of transmission are you running? David :):):) |
lol,.... should have known. ;)
The new side oiler and the Tremec 600. Aluminum flywheel and McLeod RST Twin Disc from Brent at B2 Motorsports. I just looked and see he also has a fork. What all is included, and can you post photo's either on this thread or send me a email. I would appreciate it. cobrakev@galaxycable.net |
You can see more info on the Kirkham setup starting in about post #66 here:
http://www.clubcobra.com/forums/show...row#post755374 That is for the lakewood, but basically the same for the QT. You get the arm, pivot, slave cylinder and TO bearing and mounting braket. http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/d...22_Medium_.JPG |
I just put a Mcleod hydraulic TO bearing in the last set up I assembled. They have a contained piston now so they can't overstroke/leak/come apart. It needed a different length piston from the one it came with but is a very compact and tidy set up all done. I like these. http://www.summitracing.com/search/D...?Ns=Rank%7cAsc

Hi FUNFER2,
I have the same fork setup as a bolt-on that is pictured above. The Kirkhams purchased 3 of them several years ago with the story of buying more. I see their part is almost exactly the same as mine....... |
Forgive me for my ignorance. I assume mine is a hydraulic as I have three master cylinders, two for the brakes, one for the clutch. I don't have the car here so I can't look at it but, it has nothing like shown. How do I find out whether it's hydro or not ? (I'm sure it is but, I'm still asleep)
What are the pro's & con's of a hydro clutch ? Will I need one for the twin dick clutch ? A fellow LSC cobra owner may have bought yours Mike, and it won't fit, it hits the frame. I'll make sure,...... this is what he has and get back to you. $400 at Summit, wow. For the same money, I'm sure the Kirkham & Mikes is higher quality ! Mike- This is what the other LSC has and it hits the frame. I can only assume the other makes will have the same problem ? http://i44.tinypic.com/adjkph.jpg |

I'll call Mike and David to chat about this, hitting the frame situation. I don't know what else can be done. Like I mentioned, a friend also has a LSC so, I'll see if he wants to get involved here.
(I know I have a Hydro bearing, and don't see why I asked) :JEKYLHYDE |
Here's my set-up on my LSC, FWIW.
http://www.pflanzer-aviation.com/Red.../Engine017.jpg http://www.pflanzer-aviation.com/Red.../Engine018.jpg It's a home-made bracket and a Ford clutch fork. |
That looks great Indy !
Where did you get the specific # Wilwood cylinder ? Is that a Quick Time bellhousing ? Is this the one you have ? http://wilwood.carshopinc.com/produc...57713/260-1333 And part # ? Description of WILWOOD 260-1333 PART#WIL260-1333 CLUTCH SLAVE CYLINDER Price-$65.95 http://i50.tinypic.com/2iloaig.jpg Any problems ? How do you like it ? I'll send you a PM/email. Thanks. |
Sent you a PM back.
I don't have a part number. It is the slave that is provided by LSC in their current kits. Call Brian at LSC and I'm sure he can provide the right number. That is a Quicktime bellhousing. Part number is 6060 for a 351W, which is the engine I'm running. Since you are using a 428, you will have less room than me. Still, if you fab a bracket, you can make it work. I'm still building so I haven't tested my setup yet. I don't anticipate any problem though. When bleeding, the bleeder nipple will be on top so I can get all the air out of the cylinder. |
Hey Randy, good news. I'll call Brian today.
Too bad he doesn't have a parts page with photo's and information. I'll rattle his cage a bit. lol |
I got one of those slave cylinders from Brent at B2. You mention a hydraulic throwout bearing. If you have one of those you don't need a fork. They are a very compact little internal unit with no frame clearance issues. If you use an external slave cylinder a stock clutch fork has clearance issues on the frame. They can be cut off on the end for clearance, have a new end put on the fork with a heim or replace the fork with something like Fortes.

mickmate- can you post a photo ?
|
Sure, what of? Note the Wilwood slave shown is a pull cylinder not a conventional push. They need a fork with the pivot point on the other side of the throwout bearing.

Also, there's no frame clearance issues on the Lonestar either way. I think there is a mix of hydraulic bearings and slave cylinder set-ups. Lots of pros and cons either way. You can search the archives for the previous discussions on the topic. Since LSC went with the longer throw hydraulic cylinder, there have been fewer problems. |

Here's the clutch slave I've been running for the last 4 years. It bolts to the front side of My Pond block's left rear ear. It's listed for a Y Block or FE powered 1957 through 1965 Ford F100. It's 23 bucks from Rock Auto. It clears everything on my Lone Star. It starting leaking a bit from the piston seal so I just bought a new one.

Thanks Dave, that's a find!!
