Toploader clearances

Rebuilding a top loader wide ratio/ smaller shafts

1) What are desired clearances between the 1/ 2 and 3 / 4 shift forks to synchro slider grooves.

2) What is acceptable runout of an output shaft??

Done Google and forum searches but no joy.

Does any body has a list of clearances pertaining to toploaders??

Thanks

You need to call David Key at David Key Toploaders. He knows everything.

Thanks Tim. It is the weekend and everybody is closed. I know the builders, Top loader Heaven, Liberty, Dan Williams, Davis Key. Just hoped some of the common clearances would be out there of the folks who have done their 4 speeds. The tranny shifted fine but when I took off the cover discovered the input bearing cage was toast. When I go into something I like to check everything and do it once. Sometimes cross checking info helps too. Some of the senior guys know this stuff off the top of their heads or have books and data. I am six hours ahead of East Coast and have to plan the times.

Thanks

Go to Classictiger.com

Learjockey1 How you doing speedie?? Go to the forum above and they have a complete rebuild of the toploader trans with endplay and clearances for rebuilding a trans. If you want to blue print it, you are looking for tighter clearances. Be careful with the bearings. Over the last couple of years they have become crap. Green and Timpken are made in China. Look for old stock if possible. Rick L.,
