I have a BB SPF 427 when I pulled the Transmission to replace the starter ring I found that it did not have but 1 dowel pin in the block an was using a Lakewood BH which needs to be indexed so the TKO will work properly, it has never shifted good every since I had it now I know why. I am trying to find the indexing tool to line it up, Does anyone know where I can get that tool, any help will be appreciated. Thans Flip. The motor an Transmission was put in bye Southern Motors

You need a magnetic base and dial indicator. Do you have a Lowes/Home Depot/Harbor Freight nearby?

Thanks guys for the info. I ordered aSteeda short shifter for TKO got it today an found out I did not have a TKO but a TR3550 tremec didn't see the tag on Trandmission till I went to put on the shifter, have to send it back an get another. Anyone put a shifter on there 3550, my original has 6 boltholes, but the ones from Jegs an Summit have only 4 and is the 3650 the same size as the 3550. I am having to do this all because the starter ring got a bad place on it. :( Thanks guys Flip

Hey Flip, I've got a dial indicator and a mag base that you are welcome to use anytime. I used adjustable offset dowls from these guys:

indexing lakewood bellhousing

Hi Hammer thanks for the offer, but I went to Horbour Freight an bought one for 24 dollars. Had to modify it a little. I cut the shaft coming out of the magnetic base off to about 3 inches an took the grinder an cut two flatsides on it where I could bolt the dial indicator on where it would line up with the hole for the transmission. It worked perfect, I do need to get some of those dowels you mentioned. We got it to specs at +.005. It been out at lease .035 every since I had it. It never shifted good. They just bolted it on an did not check it, Maybe it will work better being indexed. Thanks again Flip If anybody wants a pic of my modified indexing tool let me know
