WC T5 input/output shaft seal replacement
I am going to be replacing the input and output shaft seals on my T5 this weekend.
The transmission is out of the car and on my workbench. This is a straightforward procedure, right? Does anyone who has done this have any tips? Thanks! |
I've only done the output seal. Simply pry it out and make sure everything is clean. Use a socket type of device to align the flange with the bore and give it a good hit with a mallet. I did mine with the trans in the car and it took longer to pull the driveshaft than it did to change the seal. Hope this helps.

Thanks. Sounds easy, just wanted to check.
I wish it wasnt the front too, or I could have done it in the car like you did. |
Check the fit of your driveshaft front yoke in the gearbox extension housing bush.
Rear seals have no hope if the bush is sloppy. |
