SBF 7,5" clutch & SFI bellhousing?
Is there such a thing? Maybe for a T5 or TKO gearbox. For using a 7.5" clutch (dbl./ tripple) and a small dia flywheel....
I've only seen them for the Brinn gearboxes and they were not SFI.... Just trying to gain some ground clearance and save some weight(?). Regards RS |

A SBF Quicktime bellhousing only weighs 22 lbs. You can go with the magnesium bells, but they are $$$.
Best 7.5" clutch is a Tilton button clutch. I wouldn't recommend them at all for the street...they are just too light to donate any rotating momentum. |
factory aluminum bell is 7#, they are almost free. quartermaster makes a single disc 8.5 clutch for a 157 tooth flywheel which is 13" dia., I'm using a metal disc and the whole assy weighs 18#. Have another similar setup except different maker and using organic disc, don't like this one, too grabby, will be changing it out. Metalic lasts longer anyway.

I would never trust an aluminum bellhousing....if you get any kind of explosion......ugh....

Hi. Well, yeah... Need to have SFI, and I see no alu housings...
Anyway; on the Quartermaster or others. I could not find any listing of a smaller diameter flywheel and then SMALLER DIAMETER bellhousing. The starter might be reversed, but I'm after better ground clearance. As we all know, the SFI bellhousings for the SBF is a bit deep.... |
I have an old mag LGC bell housing out in the shed, It is scary light!! I would be worried about it stopping anything let alone an angry piece of a flywheel...

Mag is good.... Mag is racing.... However, I doubt SFI certification! And after some years- suitable, as you say- as a wallhanger only.
I had a look at a top- fuel SFI- rated Titanium bellhousing some time ago. A masterpiece! Lightweight, double wall.... |

I do think that Cobras are the right platform for a tiny diameter, multi-disc clutch program. No need to run a heavy steel flywheel, in a light weight, high torque car. Titanium Bell housing: Man that is the Holly grail to me! I once had a used but excellent Trick Titanium bell housing for a 460 Ford in my hands at the Pomona swap meet. It was a little deep and drilled for a Lenco but the guy only wanted $1400!! New the run near $5k! I just didn't have the coins at the ...im still bitter.... Jason |
