Mcloed Street Extreme

I currently have a Mcloed Super Street Pro and haven't had any issues, but I'm considering tacking my shifting woes with a lead hammer and make some changes.

The SSP is rate at 550HP and the Extreme at 700HP. At the flywheel I'm at 770, which I know takes me into twin disc (800HP) territory. I have plenty of miles with SSP clutches but none with anything stronger. Opinions on the Extreme or twin disc setups?

I want to do this along with Kirkham's billet clutch arm assembly and upgraged sychros (or new) TKO600 from Liberty Gears. The Tremec in the Beast just ain't cutting it.

Liberty's rep is top notch. Any local SoCal people with an opinion on Anaheim Gear?

Thanks.

The twin disk was recommended to me as the pick of them.
...so knowing nothing about this stuff, I pulled the trigger on the McLeod twin disk.

Good luck sorting it out.

With a TKO 600 and Tremec-specific depth bellhousing, I'd use a McLeod RXT and not think twice about it....

RST vs RXT, what is the difference???

blykins 10-22-2015 03:49 PM

The RST just has organic discs and is rated for 800hp. Not very good for higher heat applications.

The RXT has organic/sintered discs and is rated for 1100hp. Great for towing applications and racing applications where lots of heat is introduced.

Both are very streetable, don't have any chatter, etc.

Thanks for the input Brent. Appreciated.

let us know how the new set-up works. I know Blykins has the same upgrade for the tremec trans...should be awesome...

FWIW - the Liberty Gears modified TKO 600 is excellent. Fast, positive, glitch free shifts every time. I have put 60,000 miles on several stock TKOs, 15,000 miles on the Liberty TKO. The Liberty mod is a total winner. Two thumbs up.

fordracing65,
Will do. Looking forward to it.

SPF1061,
Sounds like an endorsememt to me!

Brent,
That RST twin disc fits in the QT bellhousing, huh? :p

Now this is the stuff that we should all be talking about instead of Real vs Original vs Continuation vs...whatever!
Good to see it!

Did you choose the RST over the RXT...WHY???

blykins 10-23-2015 06:37 PM

Yes, the twin discs will fit in a Quicktime bellhousing, especially the RM-6056. With a Kirkham that uses an RM-6057 bell, you will have to remove the spacer between the bellhousing and the clutch fork pivot.

Halloween sale on McLeod twin discs this week.... ;)

rodneym 10-24-2015 10:53 AM

Brent,
Any way your Halloween Special will be revived for Xmas? :o

I now have a Super Street Pro, QT RM-6056 and a TKO600. What I don't know is which SSP. Obviously it's a 1 1/8", 26 spline but I don't know if it's a 10 1/2" or 11". Does it matter? Can I use my old flywheel or will I need a new one?

Would the proper clutch be the RST 6908-07?

blykins 10-24-2015 02:47 PM

Your Super Street Pro is rated for about 500 hp. :)

It will be either an 11" or 12". Small block stuff is 10.5".

You will be able to use your existing flywheel. With the hp that you have, you should use the RXT rather than the RST. I believe the part number you need is 6921-07.
