T5 WC with Quicktime in a 352

I have been searching but can't find a definite answer.

I am about to install a T5 WC with Quicktime bell-housing on my 352 but the input shaft is too long.

Can this problem be fixed by trimming the input shaft by about 1/2 and inch or do I need to get a shorter earlier T5 input shaft?

352 Windsor or FE?

You most likely need the correct bellhousing. RM6060 for a SBF and RM6056 for an FE.

352 FE with a RM6056 using stock clutch, I have a The 99-2004 Mustang V6 T5 (tag 1352-260) but the input shaft is too long.

I have not used that particular combo. However, a standard length TKO input is around 7" long? Is your T5 input longer than that?

Yea, I measured 8.5" form transmission base to tip or input shaft, 93 to 2004 WC have a longer input shaft.

Give my buddy Tony at Astro Perfornance a call....

He can tell you if another input shaft is available.

Got this figure out, it was real simple.

I needed to new shorter input shaft and bearing retainer from a 1985 to 1993 WC. I also had to put the input shaft in my lathe and run some emery cloth on the splines, both old and new input shafts would not slide into the clutch disk splines until I took a little off the splines.

We had a customer who was doing his own install and he brought in his transmission (Tremec) and had us cut off the input by roughly 1/2". This was an FE also. Simple fix with no other issues.

The right way ......is a spacer ....specifically made .....Bellhousing adapter to put a'84-'92 S10 T5 onto a 1955 & up Chev bellhousing

If you just cut the tip of the input.......it will not sit in the pilot bearing ,and the clutch plate will not properly engaged in the splines....that's why it sticks......

I actually tried cutting the stock input shaft but the splines were still too long, they bumped up against the pilot bearing.

The only way the stock late model WC input shaft would work is if the splines were machined back to match early T5 spline length. I spent a $125 on a new input shaft and bearing retainer, well worth not having to deal with modifying the old shaft.

"If you just cut the tip of the input.......it will not sit in the pilot bearing ,and the clutch plate will not properly engaged in the splines....that's why it sticks......" Yep, that's what I experienced.

A spacer is an option but its quite simple to swap the input shaft and bearing retainer, much cheaper than buying a spacer.

The tranny I bought had the 1/2 cut off the input when I bought it ..My application , I replaced the input with anew one , and then used the spacer.....It makes me wonder. what nightmare assemblies are out there. I was watching a video on a coupe and with all the stuff on the car ...the quality of the suspension mods ..would not take me safely over 60......**)

Yep, i tried to confirm using a spacer but no one could confirm it would work.
