Speedo cable routing

Finally got to the point where I need to hook-up the speedo.
Looking for suggestions on best way to route the cable. Any pics appreciated.

I have a toploader and traditional mechanical reverse wind speedo.
Can I use a standard mustang part, or need a bespoke item?

Hope my memory is correct on this. I have the same speedo/transmission. I used a standard Ford speedo gear adaptor at the transmission but I installed a reverser at the speedometer so the speedometer spins in reverse correctly. It could be mounted at the transmission end if there is more room down there.

You have to check to make sure the adaptor as received is set up to reverse the cable twist. They can be set up both ways - the other way just provides a right angle adaptor. They can be changed by disassembly.

I ran my speedo cable up through one of the dash support tubes.
Nice straight shot from the tranny up to the back of the speedo.

Thanks for your answers, finally got the right cable.
Can anyone tell me what size/thread is used to fix the speedo cable bracket onto the gearbox casing?
