Pulling Transmission
Specific's First, I'm running a 427 FE with steel flywheel, centerforce dual friction clutch, 4 speed toploader RUG D2 28 spline wide ratio, Jag rear with
3:31 gears. I was driving on the highway 4th gear, got off the exit ramp and went to downshift into 3rd and couldn't get it into gear so I drifted to a safe place and shut her down for a few minutes. I kept trying to get it in gear and was finally successful so I headed home and it shifted fine. So 15 minutes later I fire it up again and drive over to a friends house and shut it down for a few minutes while we talk. When I go to leave I put it in reverse and start to back up and I can feel a clunk clunk coming from what I think is the transmission. I was able to upshift with no problems got it to 3rd gear and limped home. I didn't want to chance taking it out of 3rd gear till I got home. I'm thinking something is amiss in the transmission. I have a Tilton HTB and don't think there is a problem with the clutch release. |
