I have a question about the output shaft on a '63 aluminium (L1/L7) T10 with K gears. What is the ridged section, below the splines, that forms a stop for the yoke? I can't see it shown on any of the exploded diagrams. Also what colour speedo gear for a period SW guage , 3.54 diff and 275/55/15 tyres; any ideas?

One is the oil slinger the other is the speedo drive gear.

A slinger ; I would have expected it to be a spiral. I included a pic of the speedo drive gear in case anyone was inclined to suggest which accompanying gear is coorect.

Its a rubber seal, the front yoke if correct should have a machined area for it to seal against inside before the internal splines start and there should be one spline missing in the yoke so that the movement of yoke back & forth will not blow the core plug out of the yoke under induced hydraulic pressure. Sorry, cannot help with speedo gear ratios.

+1 Service yokes were sold as yoke and plug (seal) assemblies.

Page 40 of the 05-31-65 dated Shelby service parts book includes a listing for a 1959 model year yoke and plug assembly.

Is it worth trying to find and fit one of these seals or is a modern double lip end seal sufficient?
