Tremec 3550 TKO II -Clutch Arm Pivot?
I've just bought a Tremec 3550 TKO II that I'm planning on bolting up to my 428 with a Lakewood FE scattershield and Mcleod adaptor. The scattershield, which I brought used came with a small "L" shaped bracket about two plus inches wide that I assume the clutch fork pivots on? Am I missing something here? I read that the application I'm building this for (ERA Cobra) requires a Clutch Arm Pivot (FE Ford C8AZ-7522B) which the local Ford dealer tells me has long been out of production. Could the existing bracket that I mentioned above be this Clutch Arm Pivot? If not, any thoughts on an alternative pivot that I could source somewhere? (I'm not interested in doing any kind of hydraulic clutch arm set up.) Please let me know your thoughts.

Tim,
I took mine off and I think it was about 2" but I don't think it was shaped like an "L" perhaps it looked more like a "W". I didn't have enough room for a clutch arm so I went with a hydraulic throw out bearing. Good luck! Clois PS-If I remember correctly the clutch arm requires a lever to push it back and is attached to the drivers side rear of the block. I still have my clutch lever but I haven't found my pivot braclet that attaches with two flat head 1/4" screws inside your Lakewood bellhousing. If I find it tonight you are welcome to both parts. |
Tim,
Yes, my pivot was "L" shaped and about two inches long and it worked fine for installation on a Lakewood scattershield. |
Tim...this is the C8AZ you're looking for....

Hi Tim,
I'm making a conversion to an external slave asm for all of the Lakewood & McLeod bellhousings. I make the slave bracket, pivot, billet fork, adjusting rod complete with the bellhousing. The bellhousing is complete and ready to install. For mechanical linkage with the 1 1/16th input I have a billet fork & pivot to replace the parts no longer available from Ford. Call me with any questions. |
