Throwout bearing install for TKOII
Is the throwout bearing supposed to slide all the way onto the outer shaft on the TKOII? You have the pilot part of the shaft, then the "teeth", then a larger smooth shaft that runs to the gearbox. I assume the throwout bearing should slide onto that larger outer-most sharft, but the bearing is too small. I measured it with my caliper it is 1.37" (1 3/8"). The outer shaft is about 1.43"

It is not a hydraulic bearing....do you recommend using one? What are the benefits?

Yes, the throwout brg is suppose to slide on the large smooth part of the transmission. The part that is bolted to the front of case. I don't know anything about a hydraulic assm. but from what I have read on CC they seem to be fickle and a lot of trouble. Just my humble opinion. David |
The proper throwout bearing is the same as a Big-spline Toploader. As I remember it, the problem with using a "normal" lever with throwout bearing is that the pivot stand must be raised roughtly 1/2" so that the arm is positioned correctly. I also (vaguely) remember that the pivot must be re-positioned in bell housing too.
For simplicity, we use the Weber concentric bearing on all the Tremec installations. You must be carefull when you set it up, though. |

Is the bellhousing sold by ERA already modified? If not do you sell the Weber setup or should I contact McLeod? |
No, the bell housing is not modified for a clutch fork.
I'm pretty sure that we've got the Weber system in stock. Give Doug a call for the details. |
