TKO 600 Flywheel

I have a new SPF coming and am having a stroked 351 built for it. I think I am going to use a TKO600. The Question is, will the flywheel be internally or externally balanced or does it matter?**)

Your flywheel and harmonic damper will have to match your engine balance. Take both to the machinist when you build the engine. I have a 427W stroker in a Dart block and decided to make it internally balanced, so I had to buy a neutral balancer and neutral flywheel. The damper was no problem but Centerforce didn't make a neutral flywheel for the clutch I wanted, so I had to go with McLeod, which is much more expensive. I called direct to both companies for this information. If your motor is not a monster go with external balancing to save the money and problems. Good luck.

Bill,

Thanks for the info. Just happens my engine will also be a 427, and i am afraid it will be along the monster side of things. It sounds like the choice of the tremac 600 doesn't force a decision either way in regards to the internal or external balancing. Someone let me know if i am off base.

Dan your flywheel decision is only engine/clutch dependant. Get what you need to match that and you can use what ever trans you want.

Dan;
I know how you feel. My original build plan was for a warmed over 302, but it just grew and grew. The builder says the hp on this motor will exceed 600!! Good luck with yours.

Dan,

The TKO 600 is a good choice for you, you just need to decide which TKO 600 to go with. I assume you have check an know there are two different TKO 600's; one with .64 5th gear and one with .82 5th gear. The .82 is what Tremec calls the "road race".

How you want to drive your Cobra abd what rear gears you are running will be a factor in which TKO 600 you should go with. Hope this helps.

Scott
