scatter schield

Hey Guys,

I have never used a aftermarket bell housing on any of my other projects but I have never had a fiberglass floor before either. I have talked with people at Tremec and they say that with todays clutches a scatter schield bell is not very important unless you are building a fulltime race car.

Any thoughts from the cobra folk?

The other question I had was what the thin metel plate between the bell and motor is for and why the stock bell has none?

Thanks ...

I like having legs, so I have a scatter shield :D as for the metal plate between the bell housing and motor it bolts to the bottom of the shield to help keep all the part inside the bell housing...when all go's bad:p

Take a look at where the clutch and flywheel are located in a Cobra in relation to your lower legs.
In most cars it's around your ankles, in a Cobra it's generally at your knees or above. The very light construction of the Cobra body provides no protection for the driver/passenger in the event something lets go.

:) I just installed a 427R roush engine with 550 HP and 537 FT Lbs of torque. I used a Mcloed scatter shield. It fit perfectly and I am happy. You should have this level of confidence. $275.00 total cost.

A,
If Tremec built clutches instead of transmissions, their lawyers would NEVER let them give that advice.
Clutches disintegrate for other reasons besides racing. Such as failed attach bolts, bad metalurgy or heat abuse from poor driving habits.
Don't even think about it.

I use a lakewood on my 351 and I would not leave home without it.

No matter who the manufacturer is---by ALL means install a scattershield. Best protection $$$ can buy.
