Cobra 351W Build

I am in the process of rebuilding a 1994 351W and I am looking for information on what transmissions will interface with no major changes. I do not have any parts from the engine back and I will need all components.

Would like all the info and help available.

What do you mean without any major changes? That engine will interface with any tranny you wanna stick behind it. You just need the correct bellhousing, flexplate/flywheel, clutch/pressure plate.

First, be sure you can register car without having to meet '94 emissions requirements. Most guys use '68 - '75 blocks to avoid this.

Drive train wise, most typically used is the T-5Z close ratio (2.95:1 1st), or Tremec T-600 close ratio (2.87:1 1st) 5 speed.

Flywheel is the same for all 351W's. 157 tooth, 28 in/oz. Clutch is 10 1/2", and interchanges with late 5.0's, and 351W's.

Bellhousings are not the same. Any bellhousing off a late 5.0, T5 equipped Mustang will work with the T5Z. Tremec's have a different bellhousing, and you usually buy the bellhousing with the trans.

Hope this helps.

Not sure, but I would check into it,I think the 94 351-W uses a 50oz. imbalance balancer.......I think Ford changed the 302's around 1984/85 and I think????? the 351's at the same time to use common parts.............
