Richmond 6 Speed Shifter

Anyone out there know if a reversed shifter would be needed in a 427 FE W/ Richmond 6 speed trans? %/

Mike what are you trying to do? Check with Ling shifters or Hurst for what you are looking for. Rick Lake

Im looking at putting a Richmond 6 spd behind my 427 SO and was wondering if the Richmond shifter would be located far enough forward that I wouldnt have to use a reverse type shifter like the toploaders.

Mike the shifter sits 1" farther back than a 5 spd. I have a road race seat and had some problems with shifting. I put a short s shifter on to give me enough room. The orginial shifter can be made to work with either trans. I am 6" tall and my seat is almost all the way back. You will just need the shifter lever and handle. Try ERA for this. Rick Lake

Hey Rick glad you chimed in. Do you know anyone with a 6 spd Richmond in a 427 powered Cobra? Ive been trying to figuire out what gear ratios to use. What rear end ratio are you running? Is yours independent? What are your trans ratios? Thanks for the help.
Michael
