Nuts And Bots?
No, not those....get your mind out of the gutter.
I'm on the verge of installing my Toploader/driveshaft, and would like to know what the correct combinatioin of fasteners to use would be. I plan on using grade 8, but am not sure about the sizes, and combination of washers to use when I mount the tranny to the tranny mount, and the drive shaft to the diff. There are 4 bolts on the tranny (2 seem to be 0.5 inch, and two smaller ones). The diff-driveshaft requires 4 bolts of ? size (its a Kirkham diff). I suppose I could figure out the size and length by trial and error (and lots of trips to the hardware store), but I'd rather get it right the first time. Additionally, should I use spring washers, flat washers, split washers, and or locknuts? Any SPECIFIC info would be appreciated. BTW, anybody know the source Kirkham uses for all those nifty gold anadized nuts and bolts? Seems like some of them are locknuts, but not with nylon inserts. Ron R |
