interesting problem
OK, I was resealing the front of the tranny a couple days ago and was having some fitting difficulty with the front cover over the input shaft. I stripped a bolt and when trying to take it back apart, a ton of roller bearings dropped into the case. OK, off to the tranny shop. I took it to the best place in town that does a lot of work for the auto industry here in tulsa. They pulled it all apart and said front and rear bearings are shot and they can get those. Seals they can get. The rest looks good inside. The worrisome part, they said they could not find anyone that had a "bearing kit" for the tremec 3550 and would not be able to do anything else to it, even if it needed it in the future. Said all their info stated "aftermarket" and was not listed...?
So, has anyone ever had this problem? anyone know of the bearing kit number? thanks Buzz |
Interesting problem
Buzz,
Call Joe Dederichs at Standard Transmission & Gear Co., in Fort Worth. Phone number is 1-800-783-8726. They are a Tremec dealer and I'd be willing to bet he can help you with the desired parts. :D :D :D |
