Another TKO 600 Problem
I have a TKO 600 with .64 5th. It works fine in every gear until I really push it. When I am pedal to the metal it will not go from third into fourth no matter what I do until the RPMs drop way back down. Anything less than WOT to redline (6000 rpm) works fine. It happens between fourth and fifth as well but never between first and second or second and third. I do not do a speed shift. I lift off the accelerator between each shift.
I wonder if it's a clutch problem or a tranny problem? The clutch is hydraulic. Any thoughts? |
Does your pressure plate have centrigal weights?

I don't know about the pressure plate. I will find out. What would it mean if the pressure plate has weights? |
Some pressure plates are "rpm assisted" in that weights on the fingers help apply pressure at higher rpms. They work in most street applications but sometimes prevent the clutch from disengaging fully. Because these cars are so light and don't need extra pressure, we always remove the weights.
