TKO 600 Question

On my TKO-600 there is what appears to be a round plug high on the driver's side, near the front. It's about an inch across and has a hex hole for an allen wrench. Anybody know what this is? I have a leak there, and thought I'd try to get a little more info before messing with it. It's not a drain or fill plug, those are both on the other side.
Thanks in advance.

That is actually what holds your reverse fork in place, if you were to remove it your rev. fork would fall to the bottom of your transmission and it would have to be taken completely apart to repair. You can back that plug out 1/4 of an inch, no more, and wrap some teflon tape around it to stop the leak.

Thank you,

That plug is the pivot for the reverse, overdrive lever which has forks with guide pins in slid into the bottom of it. By taking that out it pulls the clip of the lever. The lever however stays upright and will not fall, problem is you cant get the clip back on without taking the trans apart. Most of the time we have repaired the trans the customer will put the bolt back in and it will push the lever over and break it pinning it against the gears locking the trans up. Bottom line you should never have to remove this unless you are doing repairs to the reverse setup.

This is funny, two trans dealers bickering over who gives the most correct advise:JEKYLHYDE

Now would be a good time for the two of you to have a sales competition just in time for the holidays, let's see which of you can give forum members the best deal. :D
