Speedometer Cable

Can anybody recommend a speedometer cable that is compatable with a TKO600 in SPF?

Rick Parker 11-26-2006 03:29 PM

Napa can provide whatever you need.

Thanks Rick. I stopped by Napa and there are many different combinations (I'm sure one fits my application). I was looking for more specific info to narrow this search down. Does anybody have a part # by chance?

This part does not seem to fit at the transmission (TKO600). I will contact Tremec for their recommendation and post their response.

mcoulter,
Have you tried finish line? I have personally used them a couple times for my speedometer cables.

Bill

The part number I gave you fits a TKO600. You need to buy an o-ring for it to fit the o-ring groove, and you have to buy a speedometer gear and retaining clip. I just fitted this same part number to a Tremec TK0600 today. :)

Kris, I noticed the retaining clip does not line up with the transmission. Do you happen to have the part #'s for the gear and retaining clip?

Oh yeah, a #for the o-ring would be helpful as well. Thanks!

The retaining clip I am referring to is to retain the speedometer drive gear on the cable. The number for it is FMC C1DZ17292A, and Ford Country in the Valley Auto Mall always has them. I use the 19 tooth pink drive gear for a 3:54 rear-geared car, and thats FMC C0DZ17271B, again Ford Country.

The o-ring is just a generic part. If you take the cable to Autozone, Napa, etc they can easily get you one for probably less than a buck.

I'm not sure why the retaining clip on the cable wouldn't fit, they always have for me. Just to make sure we're talkin the same thing, its a crows foot that uses a 1/4-20 bolt screwed into the tail-shaft??

Backward?

When we first hooked-up my TKO600 to my speedometer, it ran backward!
0 mph & the odometer running backward. So by the time I got it to DMV for registration, it had 99,989 miles!

I told the DMV inspector, that verified my VIN number & mileage, that the odometer was not working properly. She said it doesn't matter, she must record it's current number!

So according to CA DMV, I have a 1965 Shelby Cobra, with 99,989 miles.%/

jdog:rolleyes:
