Quick auto trans question....

Could anyone tell if there is a way to "pressure test" an automatic trans C4 before installation? Transmission shop??? To make sure the fluid pump is working.
I'm not a transmission expert, as you can tell:):):)
Thanks

Its been years since I've rebuilt a trans, but we used to test the circuits with compressed air. The compressed air will activate the different clutch packs when applied to the correct line (usually at the valve body to test the entire circuit, or directly to the drums in some cases) so that you can verify that they are working properly. I don't remember if there was a way to test the pump itself. Maybe someone else can help there.

elgecko,

Interesting. I don't know of a way to test the front pump either, but if you are concerned enough to question whether it is working correctly, you may want to take it to an expert to get it checked.

It's infinitely simpler, quicker and easier to do if you already have it outside the car! Try to find someone locally who can give you a recommendation about who to take it to.

Tom
