Part # location for Lakewood Bellhousing
I am preparing to swap an older 3550 for a new TKO 600 RR transmission. I am developing a list of parts that I will need in addition to the transmission. I am atttempting to determine if I will need the standard length or shortened transmission input shaft.
Jimi at Standard Transmission and Gear provided me with different Lakewood part numbers for different length input shafts for the TKO 600 transmission. I have a Lakewood bellhousing coupled to a 351W and 3550 Tremec currently and I want to re-use the bellhousing. Since my bellhousing is painted and installed, it is not easy to see a stamped part number on the bellhousing. Does anyone know the location of the part number on the Lakewood bellhousing? Thanks in advance |
Mine is on the back lower passenger side. I know it's low cause I just trimmed a little of it off adjusting for Cobra road clearance.

Triming Bottom Edge of Bellhousing
Mike, thanks a lot for the location. How much lower bellhousing edge can be trimmed off? I have seen where some owners have cut the entire bottom edge where the lowest bolts are.

You'll probably only need the bottom slice. The bellhousing has a sticker claiming no modifications are allowed so the first modification is the removal of the sticker! I have no problem with spilling the guts of the bellhousing towards the road and not at moi. The clutch fork hole looked like it had been put in with an axe on mine. My plasma cut line across the bottom is smoother and straighter than theirs. |
