T5 5th Driven Gear Removal
Hey Jimi or Anybody!
Swapping out my 5th gear set on a WC T5. The 5th driven gear won't budge from the output shaft. Does that thing usually require a puller to remove? Not much meat to grab on if it does. Thanks! Dwain |
They slip on, but that being said I have seen them seize a little on the shaft, you can use a puller or two pry bars to get it to come loose. Also if you have a bronze hammer you can tap the gear with it and it will sometimes loosen up. Let me know if you need anymore help with your gear swap. jimig@standardtransmission.com

Jimi,
Thanks for the reply. That thing is really on there. Pry bars, hammers, even profanity! It won't budge. I think a puller is the only answer. Who makes one? I've searched K-D, OTC, Mac, Snap-On - no luck. Thanks for your help! Dwain |
Just checking did you remove the snap ring? Also try www.ddperformance.com they might have some good info.
Good Luck! :MECOOL: PS click on links then follow info for a T5 for a breakdown manual. |
Woody2,
Snap ring? What snap ring!? ... ;-) Yes, snap ring is off. I'll check out D&D. Thanks! Dwain |
