clutch fork.
Iīm having a bit of trouble here.
After putting the tranny back on, with a new clutch disc ( refurbished) it seems like the rod that pushes the clutch fork is too short! I have put another bellhousing on it, i had both the old type for the long starter motor and the newer type for the short, more modern startermotor. Does these two bellhousing require different clutch forks?? I could lengthen the old push rod, but it seems to me that itīs not the right way to do it, simply destroying the old parts to make it fit and function, if itīs supposed to run with another part, i would prefer to buy that in stead.. |
The static position of the clutch fork will change when the the thickness of the clutch disc is restored (by replacing the disc, as you did). Is it an external hydraulic slave? Is there enough travel to be able to adjust it for difference in length? If not make a new rod of the necessary length.

I haven't heard of needing different clutch forks for different bellhousings that are set up for "factory" dimensions. Anyways, I would do what you don;t want to, that is make a new push rod, as long as it is not ridiculously longer. You can use a threaded rod, and I think I had purchased grade 5/8 threaded rod in the past (from a leaf spring specialy shop, I think a spring shackle), because a bolt only has so much thread. Use a bench grinder to form a ball (hemisphere) if it is supposed to fit in a cup at one end, and obviously use two nuts as jam nuts at the clutch fork end, and I also used a stock BBC rocker arm fulcrum(covered with some grease) that is sandwiched between the jam nuts and clutch fork end. That seems extreme. Are you sure the fork is installed on the throwout bearing correctly? It shouldn't have changed THAT much.
