What fluid for the world class/"z"spec T-5?
I just bought as Cobra with a 425HP 351 Windsor roller engine and a "World Class" T-5.
I'm new to Cobras and would like to know what is the preferred engine oil and trans. fluid for these units? Can I use synthetic oil in the 351 or does it prefer dino juice? I live in the SF bay area so what's good for the winter/summer in this area or do most of you run the same weight oil year round? I've always run Mobil One in my high performance bikes and I use Castrol GTX in my 911 Porsche Air cooled boxer but all engines seem to have their own particular favorites and I have NO experience with Ford motors or transmissions so what's the scoop? Thanks for any advice! Don |
I have a healthy 460 in my Merc and use Castrol full synthetic since changing the break in oil. I use Castrol in all my engines and motors. Also I use Baldwin filters on the Merc and the Mfg'r filter on stockers.I read some tests on Fram and their junk. just my 0.02 worth on that subject.
The T-5 WC trans has what looks like a bearing cover on the opening just under the input shaft, it actually has a number stamped on it, if it looks like a soft plug than it's the STD version. you can also download the service manual for that trans and it has good diagrams, I also have it on cd so I could froward it to you. Pm me if you'd like it. Carl |
