Gday guys
I know this may be a very open question but if i was to put a jag lsd 2.88 ratio diff behind a five or six speed box would this be too tall?

Unless you're running a 600cid engine that peaks at 3500rpm.

Eeks! I have a T56 with a 6th gear ratio of .54. With 4.56 gears and roughly 26" tires, it pulls 2100 RPM at 70 MPH.

With 2.88, you probably would have a hard time shifting out of 4th gear into OD.

I run 2.88s in my ERA with a Richmond 5 speed (1:1 5th gear) and it runs great - The motor is a mild 428FE.

whiteredblabe Graeme How power power are you looking at for your car? Which trans are you looking at? what are the gear ratios? Big block or Small block motor? A Jag stock rearend has limits for HP and torque.:eek: About 425-450 for either.%/ What size tires are you looking to run? The 2.88 jag is the weakest and smallest gearing of the rearends. Unless you plan to run 150 mph on the autobond a T-56 with double over drive is a waste of money. :oThis will also lug the motor at cruising speeds which hurts the bottom end unless you are running a diesel. A trans with a 3.00 first gear and 2.88 rear ends ratio will work out to about the best. IMO you would be better with a 3.07 or 3.31 gearing and a superstreet richmond trans with a 2.87 first gear and .78 over drive. With the 2.88 gearing, NO SLICKS, or AUTOCROSS GUMBALL TIRES. You will twist the stub shafts in the carrier. Been there done this.:CRY: I now run a chromemoly Jag rear with 30 spline carrier and shafts. My custom up grades are good for 600/600 HP and torque. If you are looking for more power, I quick change or Franklin rearend would be the next place to go. Over build the car, this will prevent breakage.%/:) Rick L

I can see the 2.88's working with the Richmond trans that alicarmar has, but think they are probably right on the edge. 2.88's wouldn't work in most of the set ups that I've had experience with though. I think 3.31's or possibly 3.07's would be a better setup.
