4R70W Transmission Identification?
I've decided that with my long legs and big feet, I'm never gonna be able to throw a quick shift with a standard 5-spd so I've decided to go with an automatic for my next build.
My research so far says that the best setup to put behind my 351W is a 4R70W transmission out of a '99 and up 4.2 V6 Mustang. Assuming I find one out of the car, how can I identify that it's what I need? Is all the info I need to specifically on a tag attached to the trans, or on the casting. If it's still in the car, I assume that some of this info would be in the VIN #. Can any of you Ford guru's help me decode the 4R70W? Any information would be appreciated. Thanks in advance, |
