Need to swap TKO-500 input shaft to a short shaft
Guys at Keisler Auto said it can be done in 20 or so minutes with average or better shop experience.. Any thoughts?? Oh and the standard Ford shaft on the TKO-500 was butting up to the crank shaft so the idiot motor head thought he would put an adapter plated on the bellhousing. That took my hydraulic clutch right out of the game. Idiot**)

I don`t know about the 500, but it is a simple matter on the 600.
Order a shortened shaft, remove the long shaft with the trans in a vertical position with the shaft on the bottom have the bearing pressed off the long and onto the short and reinstall the new shaft.
Make sure the splines on the new shaft are as long as on the old shaft, otherwise they will bind up in the clutch because of not enough travel

It's an easy swap if you have access to a bearing press and a dial indicator.
If you need an input shaft kit, shoot me an email for a price.

It can. BUT, stuff can fall out of the transmission, and fall back in to the transmission, if you're not careful. If it were me, I'd drop it off at the transmission shop during lunch and then pick it up at the end of the day.;)

Nah, save yourself $75. The things that can fall out (bearings) are held in by thick grease....and as long as you don't do a rain dance on the input shaft, they won't fall out.
I sell the complete Tremec transmissions and Tremec charges $75 to install them. I usually advise my customers with any mechanical ability to save the $75 and I just sell them a TKO and a short shaft kit.

Well in that case just skip the lunch, and spend the $75 at the transmission shop and you'll break even. Around here, a good lunch costs a good $75.

I don't know where you live, but I've never paid $75 for lunch.

If I come visit, will you buy me a $75 lunch? If I pay over $7 for lunch, my panties are usually wadded up in my crack.
