Richmond 5 Speed
I have a richmond 5 speed that came with my kit. Now that I am finally done building it, I've realized that the tranny is the race version. Can anyone explain what the difference is? Will I still be able to use it on the street?

I have a Richmond 5 speed (street) transmission in my Cobra replica, but I'm far from an expert on it. From information on the Richmond web site ( http://www.richmondgear.com/01fivespeed.html ) it appears that the Road Race transmission offers a wider selection of gear choices and may have some stronger components. I didn't see anything that made me think it would be unsuitable for street use.

If it is a road race trans, it has HD brass syncros and will shift just like a street trans. It's just a heavy duty version of the street trans. If it is a full race trans then it's going to be a bear to run on the street with straight cut gears.
